First things first, Who is a Realtor®?
The state of New Mexico requires anyone who brokers real estate transactions to be a New Mexico Real Estate Licensee. However, New Mexico does not require a licensee to be a REALTOR®. Being a Realtor® means that the broker subscribes to an even greater code of ethics above and beyond what the state requires. To be a Realtor® , the broker must be a member of the National Association of Realtors®.
Real estate transactions involve one of the biggest financial investments most people experience in their lifetime. With most real estate transactions being over $100,000, it would be wise to enlist the help of a real estate professional. After all, if you had a $100,000 legal question, would you deal with it without an attorney? or a $100,000 tax problem, would you attempt to reslove it without the help of a CPA? Considering the small upside costs and the large downside risk, enlisting the help of a REALTOR® is to your best advantage. Here are a few good reasons why you would want to use a REALTOR® when buying a home:

Representation
Did you know that the reals estate agent's who's name is on the sign in the front yard of the house for sale is contractually bound to represent the seller's best interests throughout the transaction. Don't you think you should have a Realtor® represent you in the same capacity when you pick up the phone and call the listing agent?
